Order of Malta International Conference

The 2013 International Conference of the Order of Malta was held in Rome during the 7th and 8th of February, under the leadership of the Grand Master Fra’ Mathew Festing, to gather the Order’s heads of government, together with many of the Ambassadors, leaders of the National Associations and Priories, and representatives of international organizations. The objective was “to mark the many works and projects carried out by the Order in 120 countries where the Order has a presence, and to define the next steps in its humanitarian and spiritual development.”

The Cuban Association was represented by a delegation of 14 knights, dames, conventual chaplains and family members, led by our President Fernando Garcia-Chacon y Chacon, Bailif Grand Cross of Honor and Devotion in Obedience.

Celebration of the 900th Anniversary of the Papal Bull Pie Postulatio Voluntatis of February 15, 1113 by Pope Paschal II.

On Saturday, February 9th, 2013 a solemn Mass at Saint Peter’s Basilica was celebrated by Cardinal Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone, and attended by the Grand Master and more than 5,000 Knights, Dames, volunteers, malades and family of the Order of Malta, who gathered in Rome for the celebration. At the end of the Mass, His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI addressed the members of the Order.
