Mr. George Weigel, Senior Fellow RECIPIENT OF THE 2011 TUITIO FIDEI AWARD

This year’s honored guest was Mr. George Weigel, a native of Baltimore, Maryland, and Distinguished Senior Fellow of the Ethics and Public Policy Center.

Mr. Weigel was educated at St. Mary’s Seminary College in his native city, and at the University of St. Michael’s College in Toronto. In 1977 Weigel became Scholar-in-Residence at the World Without War Council of Greater Seattle. Mr. Weigel was a fellow of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, D.C.
There, he wrote “Tranquillitas Ordinis: The Present Failure and Future Promise of American Catholic Thought on War and Peace”. Mr. Weigel is the author or editor of nineteen other books, including a major study of the life, thought, and action of Pope John Paul II. “Witness to Hope: The Biography of Pope John Paul II” was published to international acclaim in the fall of 1999. His most recent book about the last years of Pope John Paul II, “The End and the Beginning: Pope John Paul II — The Victory of Freedom, the Last Years, the Legacy” was published in September 2010.
